From Awareness to Advocacy: Supporting LGBTQ+ Clients (1.5HR)
This course equips professionals with the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to provide affirming, inclusive, and culturally responsive care to LGBTQ individuals. Through an exploration of identity development, intersectionality, and systemic barriers, participants will deepen their understanding of the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals. Real-world case studies, self-reflection, and practical tools will help participants enhance their capacity to create safer, more supportive environments for LGBTQ+ clients across settings.
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
- Identify ethical considerations and best practices in supporting LGBTQ+ clients, including confidentiality, advocacy, and cultural humility.
- Examine one’s own biases, assumptions, and areas for growth in order to enhance inclusive practice.
- Develop strategies to advocate for LGBTQ+ equity within institutions and communities.
Social workers completing this course receive 1.5 Clinical asynchronous continuing education credits.
For other board approvals, this course qualifies for 1.5 hours of Clinical continuing education training.
