Categories: ,

Cultural humility is an essential framework for mental health professionals, emphasizing the importance of self-reflection, openness, and respect for diverse cultural backgrounds. Unlike cultural competence, which suggests a finite mastery of specific cultural knowledge, cultural humility is a lifelong commitment to learning, growth, and understanding. This approach is vital for effective mental health care, as it fosters meaningful relationships between practitioners and clients.

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Define and differentiate the differences between cultural humility and cultural competence.
  • Identify your own cultural identity and biases and the impact of biases on client interactions.
  • Develop an action plan to apply culturally humble practices in therapeutic settings.

Social workers completing this course receive 2 Clinical asynchronous continuing education credits.

For other board approvals, this course qualifies for 2 Clinical continuing education training.
