The benefits of Motivational Interviewing (MI) are vast, especially for teens. Are you more likely to do something if someone else tells you to? Or if it is your own idea? Hence, most people are inspired to make a change when they personally believe it is important. Not because someone else thinks they should do it. That is an element of human nature that helps explain why Motivational Interviewing works. In this webinar we will explore the empirical information supporting the efficacy of MI, tapping into a teen’s innate motivations, and applying the techniques aligning with the Stages of Change through case studies.

Learning Objectives:

Summarize the History of MI & Prevalence of Adolescent Addiction.

Define the Philosophy of Motivation Interviewing

Recognize the Main Concepts of the Stages of Change & The Spirit of MI & Principles

Demonstrate the counseling methods of MI with families and Teens in SUD Treatment through Skills Practice in Case Studies.
