Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are potentially traumatic events that can have negative, lasting effects on health and well-being. Research has sought to quantify the prevalence of ACEs and illuminate their connection with negative behavioral and health outcomes later in life. This interactive webinar will highlight the significance of ACEs so that we might more easily connect with our clients and thus advance their healing.  ACEs documentation can also be helpful in clinical documentation as it gives us a starting point to identify challenges clients may not realize continue to impact them as adults.

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Clearly define trauma and its long-term negative implications on health outcomes.
  • Consider ways to prevent ACEs before they occur and suggest approaches to decrease ACEs.
  • Respond to those who have experienced ACEs by using trauma-responsive approaches to create conditions for strong, thriving families and communities where all children and youth are free from harm to allow them to achieve lifelong health and wellbeing.
