Do you want to take your knowledge of Motivational Interviewing and turn it into a skill? We all know that learning concepts are one thing, but using them day to day takes intentional effort and practice. If you want to increase your skills in Motivational Interviewing, then this is the right step! MI is a collaborative, goal-oriented style of communication with particular attention to the language of change. It is designed to strengthen personal motivation for and commitment to a specific goal by eliciting and exploring the person’s own reasons for change within an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion.
In this webinar, participants will learn the more advanced skills and techniques of MI – Engaging Clients in Behavior Change. Clinicians will be provided with the in-depth practice of the OARS skill which is vital to implementing MI as well as to identify “Change talk” and “sustain talk” using the DARN CATS skill. Learners will use the Measure of Motivation to change tools as well as solidify their ability to implement the “elicit-provide-elicit” model for information exchange..
Upon completion of the training, participants will be able to:
Demonstrate with proficiency and confidence the “OARS” skills.
Identify the Core Concepts of “change talk”, “sustain talk”, and “rolling with resistance”.
Apply Motivational Measurement Tools and Change Talk tools.
Develop the “Elicit-Provide-Elicit” Skill.
