The prevalence of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is 7.2% or 23.5 million people in the United States alone. Our methods of diagnosing and understanding ADHD have changed dramatically over the past 20 years with new research and technology including functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) of the brain. Over the course of the 3 hours, you will be introduced to how the new research has changed treatment models for ADHD and a glimpse into what the future research may inform our understanding of this previously perplexing and misunderstood diagnosis in children as well as adults.

Upon completion of training, participants will be able to:

List six steps for treatment management

Implement behavior charts in the management of ADHD symptoms effectively

Teach the importance of psychoeducation in the treatment of ADHD

Define core concepts of medication management and referring for pharmacotherapy.

Address co-occurring symptoms of ADHD
