Course Content: All Levels
The prevalence of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is 7.2% or 23.5 million people in the United States alone. Our methods of diagnosing and understanding ADHD have changed dramatically over the past 20 years with new research and technology including functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) of the brain. Over the course of the 3 hours, you will be introduced to how the new research has changed treatment models for ADHD and a glimpse into what the future research may inform our understanding of this previously perplexing and misunderstood diagnosis in children as well as adults.
Upon completion of training, participants will be able to:
List six steps for treatment management
Implement behavior charts in the management of ADHD symptoms effectively
Teach the importance of psychoeducation in the treatment of ADHD
Define core concepts of medication management and referring for pharmacotherapy.
Address co-occurring symptoms of ADHD

Meet Your Facilitator
Leo DeBroeck is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Child Mental Health Specialist in Washington State. He is CBT Plus certified through the University of Washington and Harborview Sexual Assault and Traumatic Stress Center. He has completed his Master’s of Science in Clinical Psychology. He has worked in several different levels of care for mental health treatment including long-term inpatient care, WISe wraparound intensive services, school-based therapy services, and outpatient clinical settings.
He has published peer-reviewed scientific research on young adults related to suicidality. He has written several children’s therapy books, which are self-published and available on Amazon.com, for use in therapy settings addressing grief, self-confidence, addiction, neglect, abuse, and others. He is the president and founder of Counselor’s Choice Award, LLC which reviews and promotes scientifically validated counseling products, therapeutic tools, and books.
